Can a group of media students create the first episode of a brand new soap opera in just 48 hours? Birmingham City University enlisted the services of Coronation Street script editor Claire Burgess to find out

Claire — who graduated from the university with a Media degree a decade ago — teamed up with 30 undergraduate, postgraduate and foundation students to take on the challenge.

In two days the group developed storylines and characters, filmed, acted and edited the results to produce the very first episode of the soap opera Parkside. This video shows how it happened.
