Birmingham Dogs Home has introduced an annual drive to pay for a special festive treat for the animals it cares for.

The charity cared for more than 2,700 stray dogs in 2017 and relies on donations to fund the work it carries out.

A spokesperson said: "We are appealing for help this Christmas to help feed all the dogs in our care a Christmas and New Year dinner.

"The donations will also help care for the thousands of stray and abandoned dogs that need our help."

People can call 0121 643 5211 or go [online](https://www.birminghamdogshome.org.uk/donate/single?ref=birminghameastside.co.uk) to donate.
