Good news at last after **2017** was dominated by bin strikes and poor weather conditions that left residents without waste collections.

**Birmingham City Council**says it will offer a discount of £12 on the yearly fee for green waste collection to all residents affected by the industrial action of 2017\. The £40 fee waiver will only apply to those who reported 3 consecutive weeks of miscollections to the council.

Speaking to BBC West Midlands, **Jacqui Kennedy** (Director of Waste Services at Birmingham City Council) said that "We needed people to report if they had miscollections. If people had reported 3 consecutive weeks of green waste not collected then we would compensate them."
