Drink driving offences have been revealed to make up more than 20% of prior convictions disclosed by currently serving West Midlands Police officers.

[Figures released earlier this month](https://foi.west-midlands.police.uk/officers-staff-with-criminal-convictions-919a-22/?ref=birminghameastside.co.uk) by the police force Freedom of Information team detailed as many as 24 ‘taint offences’ committed by staff throughout their service.

The highest ranking of these offences was drink driving, with 5 officers charged (20.8%), with assault being the second with 3 recorded offences (12.5%).

Fraud and public order were joint in third on the list with 2 records on each (8.3%).
