Former Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given is training with Macclesfield Town as he bids to extend his career.

The Republic of Ireland international is without a club after leaving Stoke City earlier this season.

Given, 41, has played for eight teams during his professional career, but is still hoping to play on for at least another year.

But he is now taking in part in pre-order season training at National League side Macclesfield alongside ex-Manchester United man Wes Brown and former Hull defender Alex Bruce.
