A Birmingham magician has paid tribute to his “good friend” Paul Daniels.

The star of stage and the small screen died today (17th March) after being diagnosed with a brain tumour last month.

**Jimmy Carlo**, a member of the Birmingham-based [British Magical Society](https://web.archive.org/web/20160406184126/http://www.britishmagicalsociety.co.uk/), said he would be sorely missed.

“We worked together and he was a good friend,” Jimmy said.

> “He helped me in my career – it’s such a sad loss.

> “Paul was the best television magician there was.”

The 77-year-old died at his Berkshire home with his wife and long-term assistant Debbie McGee alongside him.

His family broke the news of his brain tumour in February forcing the cancellation of a number of shows.

Another member of the British Magic Society **Bob Cockbill**, said he would be fondly remembered by all performers.

“I was going to see him in May with 500 more magicians,” he said. “It’s a very sad time.”
