The Bournemouth centre-back was a key part of the club's play-off winning team as they gained promotion to the Premier League.
But the return of Mings on a permanent deal has now moved a step closer amid reports that a fee in excess of £20million has been agreed for the defender.
If his move is completed he would follow fellow loanee Anwar El Ghazi in securing his long term future at Villa Park.
