Ofsted results, Early Years development, Key Stage 2 attainment, exclusions, Special Education Needs and persistent absences were failed targets.

[The number of persistent absentees has dropped since 2009/10](https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/statistics-pupil-absence?ref=birminghameastside.co.uk#full-year-release), however Birmingham has remained above national average. Birmingham City Council defines persistent absences as more than 10% of educational sessions missed, and aims to be within national average for the next academic year.At the beginning of the 2016/17 academic year, 33 schools required improvement. This number has dropped to 25.However, only 80% of schools were rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted, failing to reach the 90% target.
